2021 Has Produced Many Good Book-adaptation Movies for the Fans

There are many seriously good book-to-film adaptations coming to the big screen in 2021 and an unprecedented amount of movies based on stage musicals. These include In The Heights, Cyrano, West Side Story, and many others. Here are some of the book adaptations that will keep the hearths of bookworms around the world warm throughout 2021.

The White Tiger

This is a Ramin Bahrani’s adaptation that received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. The book it is based on has won the Booker Prize, and that makes it one of the most decorated adaptations this year. Priyanka Chopra was involved in this one as a producer and stars as one of the main characters.

The Dig

This Simon Stone movie is based on the true story of the excavation of Sutton Hoo in 1939. This is a medieval ship that was found underneath the home of an ordinary woman. It is soothing and the perfect choice for a rainy afternoon.

Dune

Dune is one of the classic book series that many have read, and many more claim they have. That is probably due to the huge volume of books. Now that this science fiction gem has been adapted again, fans hope it will be better than its predecessor back in 1984. However things turn out, it is certainly worth checking out now when it is fresh.

This movie is Rebecca Hall’s directorial debut and an adaptation of Nella Larson’s book of the same name. Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga star in the film, which is about a black woman living her life as a white person. Fans recommend that enthusiasts should read the book first, but it can’t hurt to do things the other way around.

Eternals

While this movie is not a novel adaptation but rather one of a comic book, it is definitely a breath of fresh air. Eternals by fantasy author Neil Gaiman is pretty great and easy to get sucked into. The movie by director Chloé Zhao will definitely please the Marvel fans, especially considering the cast. Some of the stars entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe include Angelina Jolie, Kit Harington, Richard Madden, and Salma Hayek.

The Pittsburgh-based advertising agency Brunner offers remote office support which includes upgrades to bigger computer monitors, stand-up desks, and more. It also reimburses gym memberships, massages, and yoga classes. Some other measures that the agency takes are not scheduling meetings during the lunch hour or school pick-ups and drop-offs.

Ergonomic Office Equipment

The San Francisco ad tech company Quantcast had many WFH employees reporting neck and back pain because of inadequate home office set-ups. The company focused on ergonomics and hosted webinars for its teams about how to avoid physical issues. It gives a $250 stipend to employees who provide the right equipment for remote work.

Granting Paid Time Off for WFH Employees

Milwaukee-based agency Hanson Dodge will close its offices for three days, from October 20 to October 22, for “HDUnplugged,” designed for its WFH people to disconnect from work and relax, unwind and recharge their batteries.

Subscription to Well-Being Apps

A holistic approach to employee health is also the goal of the San Francisco-based creative agency Eleven, which has upgraded insurance benefits, instituted an annual stipend, and offered subscriptions to apps like Calm and Bright to bolster the physical and mental well-being of its people. The agency leaders see self-care as a priority, not a luxury.

Actively Listen to Individual Needs

At the New York City-based ad agency Organic, leaders organize one-on-one and group check-ins to actively listen to individual needs, acknowledge and address challenges, and celebrate wins. Taking time off to ensure WFH employees are rested and engaged is also encouraged. If management notices staffers need a break, then the agency closes up shop early on Friday.
